Shapes!
On your paper, create 3 possible rooms. One is a quadrilateral, one is a pentagon, and one is a hexagon. Here are the rules: (I know, I know, there are always rules!)
Quadrilateral:
Perimeter of 24m
Pentagon:
Perimeter of 45m
Hexagon:
Perimeter of 60m
Step 1: Draw your rooms (use a ruler!)
Step 2: Label each side
Step 3: Show your calculations for perimeter
Step 4: Write one or two sentences for each room. What could they be used for in a school, and why? For example, which might be a storage room, a Learning Commons, or a classroom?
Step 5: Can you calculate the area of each? If so, show how you did it.
